Description

A perfect example of where traditional Japanese casting skill meets modern design, these cast iron trivets were designed by Hisanori Masuda and crafted by a traditional Japanese casting iron workshop that was founded in 1997 and present universally designed items that fit a modern lifestyle.

The cast iron material makes these trivets naturally sturdy and they are slightly elevated with short legs that have rubber bottoms to better protect surfaces.

The quad design is ideal for medium to larger pots, pans and kettles.

A sizeable portion of the Everyday Needs product offering is sourced from artisanal Japanese makers. Craft (工芸 kōgei, engineered art) in Japan has a long tradition and history. The practices of crafts people are passed down the generations, many still using the same processes, techniques and materials. Some favourite crafts are ceramics, textiles, woodwork and bamboo weaving, glass, nambu tetsu (cast iron) and paper making from washi paper. We are constantly excited by finding new pieces from Japan to stock in the store.
